We Brits cry out for the sun all year, then when it arrives we quickly say ‘no thanks, too hot!’ The summer heatwave has also caused a big problem for property photography, once lush green gardens across the UK now look like an arid Spanish hillside, nightmare.

When you’re selling a property, you want it to look its best. A big garden can be a really enticing feature for potential buyers, but all that dead yellow grass isn’t going to do you any favours.

You probably can’t get the lawn up to scratch before your upcoming viewings, but you can improve the appeal of your online listings. How? By using Elements to photoshop green grass picture into your properties.

The advantage of having green grass pictures

Some of the top things that Brits look for in a property include:

  • Good phone and broadband signal
  • A large kitchen for entertaining
  • A range of local takeaways and pubs
  • Proximity to good schools
  • A garden size of about a quarter of an acre (that’s roughly 1,000 square metres)

A well-maintained garden can easily add to the value. Buyers prefer simple gardens that are easy to care for and suitable for young children. This means that swimming pools and fish ponds are often undesirable, but big lawns are a crowdpleaser.

You might not be able to expand the kitchen or open a new local takeaway, but you can make the most of your property’s garden.

That’s why we offer an Image Enhancement service to tidy up your property shots. Object Removal is one of our popular enhancements, and our green grass edits come under this category.

The grass isn’t always greener on the other side, but we can make it greener for you!

Essential edit vs Grass edit

As each image is different it’s hard to say which edit is right for your property.

The edits we perform as standard might be fine if you have set your account up with the Vibrant edit style. This will boost the vibrancy of the lawn colour, but if it’s already a little yellow, it won’t look great!

From experience, we’d suggest that if the once green lawn now looks extremely yellow or dead, then the Grass edit option is the one to go for.

Is green grass picture edit misleading?

Yes, in all honesty, you could argue that it is. You should consider the Consumer Protection From Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and/or the Business Protection from Misleading Marketing Regulations 2008 (BPRs). However, the choice is yours, many agents do use this edit to showcase homes in their best possible light.

If you’re an agent, we might suggest adding some text to the description of your listing along the lines of ‘The appearance of the grass has been edited in certain photos.

If you’re a photographer supplying your shots to an agent, you should make them aware you’ve had a Grass edit performed on the images.
